Anthropology – The science of human beings and their ancestors through time and space.

Anthropology – Part 3

Commitment, belief and positive attitude are all important if you’re going to be a success, whether you’re in sports, in business or, as in my case, anthropology. (Donald Johanson)

As I began the process of researching, writing and putting together SURTSAnthropology, I realized that there were almost 30 bible verses that someway…somehow…mentions directly or indirectly, items that qualify under the scientific study of anthropology.

In fact, there are so many bible verses relating to the study of anthropologySURTSAnthropology had to be divided up into 3 sections:

Anthropology – Part 1;

Anthropology – Part 2 and;

Anthropology – Part 3;

For this section of SURTSAnthropology…Anthropology – Part 3, I would ask that you consider the following…

For a book that is not intended to be a book on science, let alone anthropology, it is quite amazing, not only on the amount of science that is in there, but the validity of the references regarding anthropology, that are in there.

Based on the evidence presented, I would submit to you there is absolutely nowhere in the Bible where the anthropology topics are unfounded.  I would also submit to you that there is nowhere in the Bible where any scientific discovery since the Bible was put together, has yet to be proven false, regarding anthropology.

What is truly amazing is the fact that many of the facts above were already in the Bible before man and his science…and anthropology, ‘discovered’ them.  In multiple cases, by hundreds or thousands of years.

What other religious book has this record?

The point is this:
While the Holy Bible is of course a religious book first and foremost, clearly, it is much more than that.

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and Genesis 3:19:

Whether you are reading Genesis 3:19 alone or in context with Genesis 3:8-19, the same conclusion can be made regarding verse 19;

  1. The curse of humanity has 5 main components, the last one being death. And finally;
  2. This death manifests itself in 3 ways: 1) Physical; 2) Spiritual and; 3) Eternal.

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. (Genesis 1:19 KJV)

Whether you are reading Genesis 3:17-18 alone or in context with Genesis 3:8-19, the same conclusion can be made regarding verses 17 and 18;

  2. Verses 17 and 18 speak of how the ground is now cursed;

17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; (Genesis 3:17-18 KJV)

21. Ecclesiastes 7:20:

Hate the sin, love the sinner. (Mahatma Gandhi)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and Ecclesiastes 7:20:

  1. Since sin entered the world in the very beginning with Adam and Eve, the curse of humanity also began;
  2. This curse of humanity did not end with the death of Adam and Eve. The curse of humanity extends out to all of humanity since we all sin today. And finally;
  3. This helps to explain why sinning is in our nature, because all humans have had to deal with sin and its consequences since literally the very beginning of humanity.

20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. (Ecclesiastes 7:20 KJV)

  4. This helps to explain why sinning is in our nature, because all humans have had to deal with sin and its consequences since literally the very beginning of humanity.

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. (Isaiah 64:6 KJV)

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:8-10 KJV)

  3. James 1:13-16 also covers sinning by choice.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. (James 1:13-16 KJV)

And there you have it.

9 sets of bible verses found in both the Old and New Testaments, whose focus can be considered under the scientific branch of anthropology.

If one of these verses is read independently, then it is possible to assume the reader may not come to this conclusion:

While the Holy Bible is of course a religious themed book first and foremost, clearly, it is much more than that.

I would submit to you that in regards to the Holy Bible and the scientific field of anthropology…

The reliability is more than coincidence.
