Day 135: The Holy Bible And Geology – Genesis To Job.

What are men to rocks and mountains (Jane Austen)

Thinking about the musings from Day 134: The Holy Bible And Anthropology – Labor By The Sweat Of Their Brow And Sinner By Choice.

I would submit to you that now that we have completed reviewing almost 60 bible verses that relate to the scientific field of anthropology, the scientific journey still continues. I would further submit to you that as we now complete our 3rd branch of science, (astronomy, biology, and now anthropology), we now need to turn our attention to the next scientific field, this one with over 70 references that can be found in the Holy Bible:

Geology.

Of course, before jumping into this next scientific field, we must establish a baseline as to what qualifies as geology. And for that, we need a standard definition:

The study of the origin, history, and structure of the earth.

Now that we have an understanding as to what the scientific study of geology is, it is now time to begin locating the bible verses that relate to geology.

So now, let us begin with 14 bible verses that contain the following concept relating to the scientific study of geology:

1. Genesis 1:9-10 KJV:

And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called the Seas: and God saw that it was good.

2. Genesis 7:11 KJV:

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

3. 1 Samuel 2:8 KJV:

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and he hath set the world upon them.

4. 2 Samuel 22:16 KJV:

16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

5. Job 12:8-9 KJV:

Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?

6. Job 14:18-19 KJV:

18 And surely the mountains falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place. 19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.

7. Job 28:9-11 KJV:

He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots. 10 He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing. 11 He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.

8. Job 38:29-30 KJV:

29 Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it? 30 The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

And there you have it.

14 sets of bible verses found in Genesis To Job, whose focus can be considered under the scientific branch of geology.

While I would submit to you that these 14 bible verses help one to understand that there is a strong connection between the Holy Bible and the scientific branch of geology, it is possible that you may not be convinced of any connection….

Yet.

So, what are the next set of bible verses relating to the scientific field of geology?

That question will be answered next time.

Do not feel discouraged if you do not see a connection with the 14 sets of verses from today from the Holy Bible that relate to the scientific field of geology. Do not feel discouraged if you are still unsure that the verses contained in these bible verses contain any scientific relevance at all. Instead, understand that after you have read these verses, you are continuing the process of learning about the relationship between the scientific field of geology and the Holy Bible…perhaps without even realizing it.

29 Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it? 30 The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen. (Job 38:29-30 KJV)

Was today’s blog a little confusing at times? Was the content perhaps a little overwhelming? Did you feel lost not understanding some or most of the subject matter?

Those feelings are totally understandable and it is ok to have one or more of those feelings. Remember that you are reading Day 135: The Holy Bible And Geology – Genesis To Job.

If you haven’t been in class since the first day of school…or when the project began…or when the contract was first signed, etc., these feelings make perfect and logistical sense.

Please feel free to go back to where all of this began:
