Day 182: Rest…Relax…Reflect.

Thinking about the musings from Day 181: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Ecclesiastes To James.

I would submit to you that it is important to take some rest.

I would submit to you, that if you have not already done so, start today to rest…and relax…and reflect. I would submit to you to perhaps begin the process to:

“Take Sunday’s off, it’s a God thing.”

The more I think about it, I don’t really know if it is really just a ‘God thing’. I mean, don’t animals, insects, birds, plants, the rest of Mother Nature and even Atheists, believe in the importance of rest? Whether they think it’s a ‘God thing’ or not, rest is necessary for all of us on this Earth, to restore, and to rejuvenate, our hearts, minds, bodies and souls. I think, most importantly, because Monday’s can be brutal, on a good Monday….

Bottom line no matter where you stand on the issue of God…get some rest.

Spend some time if you want to do some reviewing, reflecting, and/or meditating, on the week that has just ended. To be mindful perhaps of the from last week:

Day 176: Is The Heliocentric Model…Wrong? – The human bookends of the Scientific Revolution, Nicolaus Copernicus and Isaac Newton, both essentially stated that the Earth moves around the sun, creating in the process the Heliocentric model of the universe. Job 38:14 however claims that the Earth stands…can they both be true?;

Day 177: Which Came First The Chicken Or The Egg…Part 2. – A question was asked regarding bible verses addressing the relationship between the Earth and the sun. There was a second question, that was actually listed first, that needs to be addressed in order to move forward;

Day 178: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Genesis To Numbers. – 11 bible verses from Genesis to Numbers began the process of answering that question relating to the relationship between the Earth and the sun;

Day 179: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Deuteronomy To Joshua. – 15 bible verses from Deuteronomy to Joshua continue the process of answering that question relating to the relationship between the Earth and the sun;

Day 180: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Judges To Psalms. – 12 bible verses from Judges to Psalms continue the process of answering that question relating to the relationship between the Earth and the sun;

Day 181: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Ecclesiastes To James. – 15 bible verses from Ecclesiastes to James conclude the process of answering that question relating to the relationship between the Earth and the sun;

Do not feel discouraged if you don’t know how to rest. Do not feel discouraged if you power down your mind and body that wishes to forge ahead, so many things to do, so little time. Instead, embrace the idea that rest is rejuvenating. Embrace the idea that rest restores and recharges. 10-15 minutes. Do nothing regarding the upcoming workweek…for 10-15 minutes.  Then, 7 days later, extent your rest time out 5 minutes. Deep breathing exercises. Simple yoga poses. Watching cute little puppies on your social media feed. All unrelated to work and your job(s). Something, some things, to clear your mind.

Was today’s blog a little confusing at times? Was the content perhaps a little overwhelming? Did you feel lost not understanding some or most of the subject matter?

Those feelings are totally understandable and it is ok to have one or more of those feelings. Remember that you are reading Day 182: Rest…Relax…Reflect.

If you haven’t been in class since the first day of school…or when the project began…or when the contract was first signed, etc., these feelings make perfect and logistical sense.

Please feel free to go back to where all of this began:

Day 1: What Is A Mid-Life Crisis?

Day 181: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Ecclesiastes To James.

Thinking about the musings from Day 180: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Judges To Psalms.

I would submit to you that even though the question regarding the relationship between the Earth and the sun has been answered, we still need to address another question. I would further submit to you that once that question eventually gets answered, the end result will most likely lead to…more questions.

In Day 172: Going Backwards With 1 Or With 2?, it appeared that the Voyage of Ferdinand Magellan and his crew seemed to corroborate the scientific discoveries made by: Copernicus, Brahe, Kepler, Galilei, and Newton during the Scientific Revolution: That Ptolemy’s Geocentric, Earth-centered view of the universe was wrong.

In Day 173: I Really Thought That I Was Done With Geometry!, it appeared that no matter what grade you may have earned in your geometry class, there is getting around the fact that a circle is not a ball. Knowing the difference between a circle and a ball ultimately brings into question the scientific discoveries made regarding the Heliocentric model of the universe.

In Day 174: Which Came 1st, The Chicken Or The Egg?, the discovery of calcite crystals found in a chicken’s ovaries finally solves the age old question of what came first, the chicken or the egg. What was also learned was that there was a word in Job 38:14 that potentially brings into question all of the discoveries made during the Scientific Revolution.

In Day 176: Is The Heliocentric Model…Wrong?, The human bookends of the Scientific Revolution, Nicolaus Copernicus and Isaac Newton, both essentially stated that the Earth moves around the sun, creating in the process the Heliocentric model of the universe. Job 38:14 however claims that the Earth stands…can they both be true?

In Day 177: Which Came First The Chicken Or The Egg…Part 2., a question was asked regarding bible verses addressing the relationship between the Earth and the sun. There was a second question, that was actually listed first, that needs to be addressed in order to move forward.

Digging deeper, the question being asked is this…is the sun moving or is the earth moving?

In Day 178: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Genesis To Numbers., 11 bible verses from Genesis to Numbers began the process of answering that question.

In Day 179: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Deuteronomy To Joshua., 15 bible verses from Deuteronomy to Joshua continue the process of answering that question.

In Day 180: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Judges To Psalms., 12 bible verses from Judges to Psalms continue the process of answering that question.

Below are 15 bible verses from Ecclesiastes to James, that conclude addressing the following question:

Is the sun moving or is the earth moving?

1. Ecclesiastes 1:5 KJV:

2. Isaiah 41:25 KJV:

3. Isaiah 45:6 KJV:

4. Isaiah 59:19 KJV:

5. Jeremiah 15:9 KJV:

6. Daniel 6:14 KJV:

11. Malachi 1:11 KJV:

12. Matthew 5:45 KJV:

13. Mark 16:2 KJV:

14. Ephesians 4:26 KJV:

15. James 1:11 KJV:

And there you have it.

So, at final count, there are 53 bible verses, that can help us to determine whether or not the earth is moving or standing still.

Are there a couple of verses that I may have missed?

Possibly.

However, whether I found them all or maybe missed a couple, what is clear is that you cannot deny the fact the Holy Bible and the Scientific Revolution seem to be at odds regarding the movement, or lack thereof, of planet Earth.

So the next two questions that need to be asked are:

1) Can we come to a definitive conclusion regarding the Heliocentric model with the evidence already presented?

And…

2) If the answer to question 1 is no, is there more evidence that needs to be reviewed before coming to a definitive conclusion regarding the validity of the Heliocentric model?

I would submit to you that there is.

So where is the this evidence?

That question will be answered after some rest.

And that question again?

Are there bible verses that can tell us whether the Earth is moving or is it standing?

I would submit to you that there are.

But first, let’s address what the latest science has to say regarding the movement of the earth. Here are 3 basis facts that the latest science has concluded to date:

1) The Earth spins at about 1,037.689891 miles, (1670 kilometers) per hour.

2) The Earth orbits the sun at 66,486.717569 (107,000 kilometers), per hour.

https://www.newscientist.com/question/fast-earth-spin

And:

3) The Sun and Earth are orbiting around the dense center of our galaxy at some 447,000 miles (71,9376.768 kilometers), per hour.

https://www.space.com/33527-how-fast-is-earth-moving.html

So, what conclusions can we come to regarding the latest scientific information regarding earth?

The earth:

1) Spins;

2) Orbits around our sun and;

3) Orbits around the dense center of our galaxy.

So now that we have an understanding of what the latest science claims reagding the movement of the earth, does the Holy Bible have any verses regarding this topic?

Yes…quite a few actually.

Below are 11 bible verses from Genesis to Numbers, that address the following question:

Is the sun moving or is the earth moving?

1. Genesis 15:12 KJV:

2. Genesis 15:17 KJV:

3. Genesis 19:23 KJV:

4. Genesis 32:31 KJV:

5. Exodus 17:12 KJV:

6. Exodus 22:3 KJV:

7. Exodus 22:26 KJV:

8. Leviticus 22:7 KJV:

9. Numbers 2:3 KJV:

10. Numbers 21:11 KJV:

11. Numbers 34:15 KJV:

So let’s summarize what we have discovered so far:

The current science tells us that the earth:

1) Spins at about 1,037.689891 miles, (1670 kilometers) per hour;

2) Orbits the sun at 66,486.717569 (107,000 kilometers), per hour and;

3) Is orbiting, (along with the sun), around the dense center of our galaxy at some 447,000 miles (71,9376.768 kilometers), per hour.

Meanwhile, there are 11 bible verses, from Genesis to Numbers, that appear to show the exact opposite: that it is the sun, not the earth, that is moving.

Is that it?

Are there more bible verses that address the question of:

Whether or not the earth is moving or standing still?

That question will be addressed next time.

Was today’s blog a little confusing at times? Was the content perhaps a little overwhelming? Did you feel lost not understanding some or most of the subject matter?

Those feelings are totally understandable and it is ok to have one or more of those feelings. Remember that you are reading Day 178: How Do You Move Something That Isn’t Supposed To Be Moved – Genesis To Numbers.

If you haven’t been in class since the first day of school…or when the project began…or when the contract was first signed, etc., these feelings make perfect and logistical sense.

Please feel free to go back to where all of this began:

Day 1: What Is A Mid-Life Crisis?

Day 177: Which Came First The Chicken Or The Egg…Part 2.

Thinking about the musings from Day 176: Is The Heliocentric Model…Wrong?

I would submit to you that even though the question of which came first, the chicken or the egg has finally been answered, that line of questioning does not end there. I would further submit to you that when you take out the ‘chicken’ and the ‘egg’ and plug in two different words, that answer may not be what the science of the last half millennia tells you.

And more importantly…are there are more bible verses that can be found, that further questions the scientific validity of the Heliocentric model?

I would submit to you that there are two ways to approach this question:

1) Finding bible verses that can tell us whether the Earth is moving or is it standing or;

2) Finding bible verses addressing the relationship between the Earth and the sun.

I would submit to you that since the Heliocentric model is a sun centered model, (helio means ‘relating to the sun’), we should address question 2 first.

The reason being?

Well, it is sorta like answering the chicken or the egg question:

Which came first, the sun or the earth?

I would submit to you that this answer can be found in the first book of the Holy Bible, Genesis:

So, according to Genesis 1:1-2 in the Holy Bible, the earth was created before the sun.

I would submit to you that not only does the Holy Bible tell us that the earth came before the sun, it also tells us exactly how long it took for the sun to be created:

So, on day 4, the sun, (and the moon), were created, 3 days after the earth was created.

So now that the Holy Bible has addressed question 2 above:

2) Finding bible verses addressing the relationship between the Earth and the sun….

Does it also address this question, which I will refer to as 2A?

2A) If the answer to the above question is the earth was created first, how does the Heliocentric Theory work, when there is no sun for the earth to revolve around for the first 3 days of the creation of the universe?

I would submit to you that we should refer to William of Ockham, covered initially in:

Day 92: How Sharp Was…And Is…Ockham’s Razor?

in order to answer question 2A:

The only logistical answer using William of Ockham’s theory is that the Heliocentric Theory cannot possibly work during the first 3 days of creation, because the earth was created before the sun.

Now, what about the first question from above?

Finding bible verses that can tell us whether the Earth is moving or is it standing….

That question will be addressed next time.

Day 1: What Is A Mid-Life Crisis?

Day 176: Is The Heliocentric Model…Wrong?

Thinking about the musings from Day 175: Rest…Relax…Reflect.

I would submit to you that as a life-long learner, you will eventually run into information that questions everything that you have been taught your entire life. I would further submit to you that when presented with this information you need to then ask yourself…what will you do with it?

So, what is the word in question?

In order to find it, here is Job 38:14 again:

In order to figure out what word in Job 38:14 potentially calls into question the Heliocentric model of the universe, we need a definition of the model first:

We could go to Nicolaus Copernicus:

“Copernicus’ proposed…the Earth…revolved around the sun.”

Or we could go to Isaac Newton:

“Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who sets the planets in motion.”

Or we can go to Wikipedia:

“Heliocentrism (also known as the heliocentric model) is a superseded astronomical model in which the Earth and planets revolve around the Sun at the center of the universe. Historically, heliocentrism was opposed to geocentrism, which placed the Earth at the center.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heliocentrism

They are all saying the same thing:

The Earth moves around the sun.

However, the word in Job 38:14 that seems to imply the exact opposite of the Earth moving is:

‘stand’.

How is it possible to assume that a single bible verse, Job 38:14, puts into question the entirety of all of the discoveries by: Copernicus, Brahe, Kepler, Galilei and Newton, regarding the scientific brach of astronomy, during the Scientific Revolution?

I would submit to you that the answer to that question is quite simple:

The Heliocentric model defines the Earth as moving, while Job 22:14 says the Earth does not…it stands.

I would further submit to you that there is a potentially larger question that you need to ask yourself:

Are there are more bible verses that can be found, that further questions the scientific validity of the Heliocentric model?

That question will be answered next time.

Was today’s blog a little confusing at times? Was the content perhaps a little overwhelming? Did you feel lost not understanding some or most of the subject matter?

Those feelings are totally understandable and it is ok to have one or more of those feelings. Remember that you are reading Day 176: Is The Heliocentric Model…Wrong?

Day 1: What Is A Mid-Life Crisis?

Day 175: Rest…Relax…Reflect.

Thinking about the musings from Day 174: Which Came 1st, The Chicken Or The Egg?

Day 169: Oh…Psychics, Not Physics – Part 1. – After realizing that physics and psychics were in fact two different words, it appeared that the psychic verses seemed quite intriguing and decided to cover these bible verses after concluding the scientific branch of physics. This day then concludes with 16 bible verses relating to psychics from the Books of Exodus to Isaiah;

Day 170: Oh…Psychics, Not Physics – Part 2. – This day begins with a brief review of prior bible verses relating to the scientific field of physics covered in day: 169. This day then concludes with 23 bible verses that relate to psychics, that can be found in the books of Daniel to Revelation;

Day 171: Going Backwards Before Going Forwards. – This day begins with a brief review of prior bible verses relating to 8 scientific fields covered in days: 102, 129, 134, 138, 141, 156, 162, and 167. Covering over 1200 bible verses in all, there was a case to be made that perhaps the science was in fact not settled after all;

Day 172: Going Backwards With 1 Or With 2? – This day begins with a brief summary of the main takeaways of the historical significance of both the Scientific Revolution and the Maritime Revolution, or the European Age of Discovery. There is a case to be made that the voyage of Ferdinand Magellan and his crew ultimately calls into question the conclusions regarding the Heliocentric model based off of two bible verses: Isaiah 40:22 and 22:18;

Day 173: I Really Thought That I Was Done With Geometry! – One the surface, Isaiah 40:22 and 22:18 may not seem connected or relevant when read side by side. However, when applying geometry to both verses, there is one word in each that may call into question the validity of the Heliocentric model;

Day 174: Which Came 1st, The Chicken Or The Egg? – There is a case to be made that whether someone realizes it or not, life-long learning is…life-long. This life-long learning helps not only helps one to finally solve the question: which came first, the chicken or the egg, but also leads us to the Book of Job.

Remember that you are reading Day 175: Rest…Relax…Reflect.

If you haven’t been in class since the first day of school…or when the project began…or when the contract was first signed, etc., these feelings make perfect and logistical sense.

Please feel free to go back to where all of this began:

Day 1: What Is A Mid-Life Crisis?

Day 174: Which Came 1st, The Chicken Or The Egg?

Thinking about the musings from Day 173: I Really Thought That I Was Done With Geometry!

I would submit to you that whether or not you are a current or former student, you will never stop learning. I would further submit to you that as a life-long learner, you may run into information that will lead to much…unlearning.

There is a case to be made that no matter how old or young you are, are whether your are currently in or out of school while you are reading this sentence, one thing cannot be disputed:

We are all life-long learners.

Now, getting students to understand the concept of the importance of being a life-long learner, really was not as difficult as one would think.

All that needed to be done in my class was to ask a simple question:

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

For perhaps as long as this classic question has been asked, the answer always seemed unanswerable.

However, in the 21st century, science has finally found an answer to this unanswerable question.

The chicken came first.

The reason?

Calcite crystals.

(DISCLAIMER: I have no idea what calcite crystals are.)

Or another way of saying the answer:

A protein found in the egg shell that can only be found in a chicken’s ovaries.

(DISCLAIMER: I knew about the protein part.)

In 2015, scientists from Sheffield and Warwick, United Kingdom, discovered a protein named ovocledidin-17, or OC-17. It is the OC-17 that enables the chicken to convert calcium carbonate into calcite crystals, and then produce the eggshell.

In class, after revealing this scientific discovery to my students, I would pose a follow up question:

Now that science proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the chicken, with its protein found in the egg shell, came first, the next obvious question that needs to be asked is:

Who then, created the chicken?

After leaving that follow-up question float around my students for a few seconds, I would then transition into the next content specific topic and leave it at that.

Instead of going back to the current scientific discoveries that have concluded that the chicken did indeed come before the egg, I would like to apply the chicken and egg former conundrum to the visuals that I brought up in:

Day 173: I Really Thought That I Was Done With Geometry!

And:

For all of you life-long learners that are still with me and have gotten this far into this blog post, here is a questions to ask yourself:

Assuming that Isaiah knew the difference between a circle, which is 2-dimensional, and a sphere, which is 3-dimensional, are we to assume that Isaiah knew by default then that the Earth is a circle and not a sphere?

A second question to ask would be this:

Is the Book of Isaiah the only book in the Holy Bible that potentially brings up the shape of the Earth?

I would submit to you that without question, Isaiah knew the difference between a circle and a ball. Think about how old you were when you first discovered the difference between a 2 dimensional circle and a 3 dimensional sphere….

How old were you when you figured out the difference between a circle and a sphere?

Why would someone assume that Isaiah wouldn’t be able to learn the differences between a circle and a ball during his lifetime, at about the same age as you discovered these differences in your lifetime?

Because he didn’t have access to the internet?

Be careful…you don’t want to be guilty of imposing Presentism on Isaiah…do you?

If you are not familiar with what Presentism is or you are but you need a quick refresher, please refer to the following:

Day 15: Are You Guilty Of Presentism?

Day 16: Does Presentism Affect The Way You View The World? and;

Day 17: The Dangers Of Presentism.

Now that it can be safely concluded that Isaiah did in fact know the difference between a circle and sphere, is the Book of Isaiah the only book that discusses these matters regarding Earth?

Consider the following verses from the Book of Job:

Consider the word ‘ends’ in verse 13.

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, the top 3 entries that define the term ‘end’ are:

1) ‘Either extremity of something that has length’;

2) ‘The outside or extreme edge or physical limit; a boundary’ and;

3) ‘The point in time when an action, event, or phenomenon cases or is completed.’

A final question to ask regarding Job 38:13 is this:

Does a 2-dimensional circle or a 3-dimensional sphere have an ‘end(s)’ to it?

How about this final question…

What word in Job 38:14 potentially contradicts all of the discoveries made by:

Copernicus, Brahe, Kepler, Galilei and Newton, during the Scientific Revolution?

That question will be answered after some rest.

Day 1: What Is A Mid-Life Crisis?

Day 173: I Really Thought That I Was Done With Geometry!

Thinking about the musings from Day 172: Going Backwards With 1 Or With 2?

I would submit to you that whether you are reading for business, school, pleasure, or all of the above, comprehension of what you read is important. I would further submit to you that sometimes, comprehension may not be fully attained until you re-read what you just read…

Whether it was today, yesterday, or many years ago.

For the last 18 years of my teaching career, I would finish up the content relating to the European Age of Discovery / Maritime Revolution, with the following bible verse:

It was this bible verse that I would close with, concluding beyond a reasonable doubt, that all of the scientists during the Scientific Revolution: Copernicus, Brahe, Kepler, Galilei and Newton, all used science to overturn centuries of scientific dogma:

The Ptolemaic model of the universe was wrong, and the Heliocentric model model was right.

It was this bible verse that I would use as an exclamation point, to show the students that the science proved that the Earth was not flat, like the majority of the peasant, uneducated class believed during this time period, but rather a sphere, which is what the scientifically literate now believed from the early 1700’s to the present.

For more details regarding the content covered regarding the Scientific Revolution, please refer back to the following posts:

Day 67: The Scientific Revolution – Part 1.;

Day 68: The Scientific Revolution – Part 1 – (Part 2). and;

Day 69: The Scientific Revolution – Part 1 – Conclusion.

And then, this bible verse showed up recently in a bible study with a high school friend of mine:

And then, we continued on with the rest of our bible study of chapter 22 of the Book of Isaiah without thinking twice about what we had just read in Isaiah 22:18….

It wasn’t until several months later that I peeled back this layer using…

Geometry.

And geometry is not something that I am very good at understanding. The main reason for my lack of understanding all things geometry probably begins, (and ends), with the fact that I earned D’s in both semesters in my geometry class, during my sophomore year in high school.

And it was these D’s in both semesters in my geometry class, during my sophomore year in high school, (combined with several other classes…if I am truly being transparent here), that sent me hurdling towards the depth of mediocrity in the GPA rankings in my high school class of 1986. Despite this mediocrity, I was still able to earn a full, academic scholarship to a tiny college in Missouri, after putting ‘top 50% in my class’ on their, (along with many…MANY other), college applications….

Even today, almost 4 decades later, (I will in fact turn 56 in September of this year), I still use my poor geometry skills, or lack thereof, to get out of any hard work that has anything to do with…

Geometry.

And that, I would submit to you, is how I use geometry, almost 4 decades later, has come full circle in my life.

Now…let us turn the focus of coming full circle with me and my geometry grades, to coming full circle with Isaiah 40:22 and 22:18.

Or more specifically, full circle with Isaiah 40:22 and a ball in Isaiah 22:18.

And the best way that I can use my geometry skills, (or lack thereof), to show you what I have discovered recently, is to use the following two visuals below:

And:

https://www.rodscontracts.com/images/science/cosmology/EarthGeometry/8eccf0200e7ef71026027711fb435fa3–flat-earth-bible-bible-scriptures.jpg

So…after looking at the two visuals above, combined with your knowledge of geometry, the question that needs to be asked is this:

What is the difference between a circle and a ball?

Well, even someone with a D in high school geometry can answer that correctly:

A circle is a 2-dimensional object and a ball is a 3-dimensional object.

Knowing the difference between a 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional object can put everything that you know about the Heliocentric model of the universe…

Back into question all over again.
