Anthropology – The science of human beings and their ancestors through time and space.

Anthropology – Part 1

History and man made each other. (Mokokoma Mokhonoana)

As I began the process of researching, writing and putting together SURTSAnthropology, I realized that there were almost 30 bible verses that someway…somehow…mentions directly or indirectly, items that qualify under the scientific study of anthropology.

In fact, there are so many bible verses relating to the study of anthropologySURTSAnthropology had to be divided up into 3 sections:

Anthropology – Part 1;

Anthropology – Part 2 and;

Anthropology – Part 3;

For this section of SURTSAnthropology…Anthropology – Part 1, I would ask that you consider the following…

For a book that is not intended to be a book on science, let alone anthropology, it is quite amazing, not only on the amount of science that is in there, but the validity of the references regarding anthropology, that are in there.

Based on the evidence presented, I would submit to you there is absolutely nowhere in the Bible where the anthropology topics are unfounded.  I would also submit to you that there is nowhere in the Bible where any scientific discovery since the Bible was put together, has yet to be proven false, regarding anthropology.

What is truly amazing is the fact that many of the facts above were already in the Bible before man and his science…and anthropology, ‘discovered’ them.  In multiple cases, by hundreds or thousands of years.

What other religious book has this record?

The point is this:
While the Holy Bible is of course a religious book first and foremost, clearly, it is much more than that.

I wish to thank the authors of the following website for their ideas, concepts and inspiration, for SURTSAnthropology…Anthropology – Part 1:

Anthropology – Part 1:

1. Genesis 1:26-286. Genesis 2:21-23
2. Genesis 1:317. Genesis 2:24-25
3. Genesis 2:78. 1 Corinthians 11:8-9
4. Genesis 2:189. 1 Corinthians 11:11-12
5. Genesis 2:20

1. Genesis 1:26-28:

The actual issue is not the excess of population but the actions of population. (Amit Kalantri)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and Genesis 1:26-28:

  1. Terms like: ‘our image…our likeness’ in verse 26, and ‘own image…image of God’ in verse 27, clearly show that humans are not on equal footing as say an elephant, rose, or a one-celled amoeba. If all of those items were true, then all life on planet Earth would all look pretty much the same and function with pretty much the same exact job description;
  2. Terms like: ‘dominion over…the fish…the fowl…the cattle…over all…over every’ in verse 26, and ‘blessed them…replenish the earth…subdue it…have dominion over the fish…over the fowl…over every living thing…and subdue it’ in verse 28, imply that we humans are clearly above all other living things on planet Earth. Words like all and every are absolute terms, they by default imply 100%. Therefore it is 100% safe to assume then, that there is no equality between humans and any other living thing on planet Earth. Humans were created to rule and subdue planet Earth, not the other way around. And finally;
  3. When combining the first two points above, a logical conclusion can be made…if from the very beginning, humans were placed at the top of the planet Earth hierarchy since we first got here, and were to have dominion over all things on, in, above and under it, then how does one prove that humans are evolving over time? If humans are already at the top, how can humans evolve towards perfection if humans were created in the image and likeness of God? Is God not already perfection?

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26-28 KJV)

2. Genesis 1:31:

We need to be reminded sometimes that a sunrise last but a few minutes. But its beauty can burn in our hearts eternally. (R. A. Salvatore)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and Genesis 1:31:

  1. On the sixth day, when ‘God saw every thing that he had made…was very good’, every thing is an absolute term, which implies 100%. It is assumed then, that from the very first days of the beginning of planet Earth, ‘every thing…was very good’. That implies perfection. Nothing less. If this makes logistical sense to you then;
  2. Every thing on planet Earth is a wonder…a marvel…and a miracle. That includes all of us. If you believe the first two points then;
  3. There is an awesome responsibility that we as humans have regarding the comings and goings on planet Earth. This is not to be taken lightly or out of hand, it is an enormous responsibility that has been given to humans. All of us.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Genesis 1:31 KJV)

3. Genesis 2:7:

Take every breath as an event. (Arzum Uzun)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and Genesis 2:7:

  1. Ultimately, what makes up all humans is what is found in the stuff that we walk on all the time…dust and dirt. This makes sense in that;
  2. If humans were created originally on planet Earth, it would make logistical sense then to use what was most easily and readily available on…planet Earth. And finally;
  3. If these first two points are in fact true regarding the creation of humans, then that would explain how humans got their first breath. Someone, or something had to give it to us.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7 KJV)

4. Genesis 2:18:

Sometimes…it takes a woman to bring out the best in a man. (Christopher McDougall)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and Genesis 2:18:

  1. The plan was intentional, so that man would not have to be alone and also;
  2. The plan was for the man to have help, a teammate, throughout life, so that as a team, God’s plan for planet Earth could be accomplished.

18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. (Genesis 2:18 KJV)

5. Genesis 2:20:

Animals are born who they are, accept it, and that is that. They live with greater peace than people do. (Gregory Maguire)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and Genesis 2:20:

  1. The plan was intentional, so that man would not have to be alone and also;
  2. The plan was for the man to have help, a teammate, throughout life, so that as a team, God’s plan for planet Earth could be accomplished.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. (Genesis 2:20 KJV)

6. Genesis 2:21-23

The woman was made of a rib out of the side of Adam; not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved. (Matthew Henry)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and Genesis 2:21-23:

  1. Women are unique relative to men in that the first woman, Eve, was created out of the rib of the first man, Adam, who was created from the dust of the earth;
  2. If one understands this, then that also helps one to understand why approximately half of the human population is called ‘woman’. ‘Woman is a literal translation that means ‘of the man’. And finally;
  3. The woman is ‘the glory of man’. Does this sound like a woman is to be considered unequal or subservient, to a man?

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. (Genesis 2:21-23 KJV)

7. Genesis 2:24-25:

Shame doesn’t exist in the animal kingdom. It’s a human conception. (Justin Torres)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and Genesis 2:24-25:

  1. The plan was intentional, so that man would not have to be alone;
  2. The plan was for the man to have help, a teammate, throughout life, so that as a team, God’s will could be accomplished;
  3. Men and women were not designed to war against each other, but rather, to work with each other…men and women were designed to need and to be mutually dependent upon on each other. And finally;
  4. The most intentional way for God’s will to be fulfilled is for a man, (most not all), and a woman, (most not all), to get married;

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. (Genesis 1:24-25 KJV)

8. 1 Corinthians 11:8-9:

No man succeeds without a good woman behind him. Wife or mother, if it is both, he is twice blessed indeed. (Godfrey Winn)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and 1 Corinthians 11:8-9:

  1. The plan was intentional, so that man would not have to be alone and also;
  2. The plan was for the man to have help, a teammate, throughout life, so that as a team, God’s plan for planet Earth could be accomplished.

For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. (1 Corinthians 11:8-9 KJV)

9. 1 Corinthians 11:11-12:

The strength of a kingdom comes from its King, The strength of a King comes from his Queen. (Cody Edward Lee Miller)

For your consideration regarding the connection between anthropology and 1 Corinthians 11:11-12:

  1. The plan was intentional, so that man would not have to be alone;
  2. The plan was for the man to have help, a teammate, throughout life, so that as a team, God’s will could be accomplished;
  3. Men and women were not designed to war against each other, but rather, to work with each other…men and women were designed to need and to be mutually dependent upon on each other. And finally;
  4. The most intentional way for God’s will to be fulfilled is for a man, (most not all), and a woman, (most not all), to get married;

11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. 12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. (1 Corinthians 11:11-12 KJV)

And there you have it.

9 sets of bible verses found in both the Old and New Testaments, whose focus can be considered under the scientific branch of anthropology.

If one of these verses is read independently, then it is possible to assume the reader may not come to this conclusion:

While the Holy Bible is of course a religious themed book first and foremost, clearly, it is much more than that.

I would submit to you that in regards to the Holy Bible and the scientific field of anthropology…

The reliability is more than coincidence.
